President Corazon Cojuangco Aquino has been recognized worldwide as an icon of democracy since her rise to power during the 1986 People Power Revolution.

The Senate resolved and approved a resolution acknowledging the late Corazon "Cory" Aquino as a worthy leader of the Filipino people having dedicated her life in the service of the country and of the Filipino.
