That's right. February 22 is a special holiday in all schools. This is to celebrate the 24th commemoration of February 25, 1986 People Power Revolution which restored basic liberties such as free speech, freedom of assembly and a free press after 14 years of Martial rule.
February 22 is declared a special holiday for schools since this is the Monday nearest to February 25.
Pursuant to Republic Act No. 9492, all holidays, except those which are religious in nature, are moved to the nearest Monday unless otherwise modified by law, order or proclamation.
