Famous American Pentecostal TV evangelist Rev. Oral Roberts joined our Lord on Tuesday December 15th at the age of 91. Oral Roberts died of complications from pneumonia in Newport Beach, California.
Rev. Oral Roberts, founder of a multimillion-dollar ministry was famous in helping to pioneer TV evangelism in the 1950s. He had played a major role in bringing American Pentecostalism into the mainstream. He had also laid the foundation for the "prosperity gospel," the doctrine that has come to dominate televangelism. It holds that God rewards the faithful with material success.
Oral Roberts also founded the Oral Roberts University in Tulsa in 1963.
