Oprah is ending show. Oprah Winfrey will announce on her Friday show that she is ending her 25-year-old talk show on September 9, 2011 in its 25th season. But fans of Oprah should not be sad because the queen of daytime television will not forever be gone on the spotlight. Oprah’s decision to end her show comes because she is ready to launch her own cable network. Oprah Winfrey, partnering with Discovery Communications, will take the Discovery Heath Network and change it into the “Oprah Winfrey Network".
“The sun will set on the Oprah show as its 25th season draws to a close on Sept. 9, 2011,” Tim Bennett, the president of Ms. Winfrey’s production company, Harpo, said in a letter to her 214 local TV stations on Thursday evening. She will appear on her cable channel, called OWN: the Oprah Winfrey Network, in some form. But “The Oprah Winfrey Show” will no longer be.
