Steve Phillips fired! - Yes, Steve Phillips has been fired by ESPN after having been involved in a sexual scandal with co-employee Brooke Hundley. Phillips previously had taken a leave of absence after details of his relationship emerged. In an official statement made by the network on October 25, 2009 during Game 6 of the ALCS:
"Steve Phillips is no longer working for ESPN," network spokesman Josh Krulewitz said in a statement. "His ability to be an effective representative for ESPN has been significantly and irreparably damaged, and it became evident it was time to part ways."
Well, it's sad. I think Phillips was fired not for what he did (his affair with Brooke Hundley) but because his stained image no longer conforms to the morals of ESPN.
