Corazon Aquino Memorial Service



Former President Corazon Aquino's Memorial Service was held at the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros this morning August 5, 9:00 a.m. attended by her immediate family, friends, international diplomats, the members of the media, and among others. President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo arrived from her US trip to pay her last respect to the former president. Pres. Arroyo left in no more than 10 minutes.

Among those who were honored to be a part of this unforgettable moment in the history of the Philippines were:
  • Most Rev. Socrates Villegas, D.D. who presided the Mass
  • Fr. Catalino Arevalo, S.J. who gave the homily that centered on the life and character of the former president
  • His Eminence Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales, Archbishop of Manila, gave the final blessing
  • Erik Santos - sang the "Our Father"
  • Dulce - sang "Your Heart Today"
  • Piolo Pascual - sang "Sa Iyo Lamang"
  • ZsaZsa Padilla - sang "Hindi Kita Malilimutan"
  • Lea Salonga - sang "Bayan Ko"
  • Regine Velasquez and Martin Nievera - sang "The Prayer"
  • Olgie Alcasid - sang "Pangako"
  • Jose Mari Chan - sang "I Have Fallen In Love With The Same Woman Three Times"
  • Jed Madela - sang "Impossible Dream" which was Ninoy Aquino's favorite song
  • Sarah Geronimo - sang "Magkaisa" which was the theme song during the 1986 EDSA Revolution that brought people into the street
  • The Apo Hiking Society - sang together with the other singers "Handog ng pilipino sa Mundo"
  • Ted Failon and Korina Sanchez - anchored the ABS-CBN Live Coverage of the "Cory Aquino" A Farewell From the Filipino People"
