Blue Moon on Tuesday

Yes! Stargazers had a chance to see the second blue moon since January this year on Tuesday March 30 in the Philippines, as well as have the chance to see Uranus, Neptune and Venus before dawn on the same day, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA). The occurrence of a blue moon is two full moons in one month.

PAGASA said that Jupiter and Neptune lie among the background stars of the constellation Capricornus, the Sea-Goat while Neptune was found among the stars of the constellation Pisces, the Fish. Neptune, the Blue-Green planet can be observed using a modest-sized telescope.

“The next blue moon will be on August 2 and 31, 2012," Nilo said in PAGASA’s astronomical diary for March. On the average, a blue moon takes place once every two and a half years.

So stargazers, let's watch out for the next blue moon on August 2 and 31, 2012. If we still can....

This was not supposed to happen 5 or 10 years ago, it is supposed to happen now. Today is my day, this is my time, and this is my moment," he wrote.

"These years in silence and reflection made me stronger and reminded me that acceptance has to come from within and that this kind of truth gives me the power to conquer emotions I didn't even know existed."

HR 4872 - Health Care Bill Summary

HR 4872, also known as Health Care and Education Affordability Reconciliation Acts, wherein the House is expected to vote on this bill on Sunday 3/21/10. Accordingly,

This bill would amend the Senate's health care bill to bring some of its provisions more in line with the more progressive House version of the bill. It is a budget reconciliation bill, resulting from instructions that were included in Congress' 2010 budget plan. Under the rules, debate of this bill would be limited to 20 hours in the Senate, meaning no filibuster, and amendments would be severely limited.

H.R. 4872 Health Care and Education Affordability Reconciliation Acts, explained in a statement by the President yesterday, “This legislation contributes to transforming the health care system to make health care more accessible and affordable for the American people. It also includes provisions that would eliminate wasteful subsidies for student loan lenders and invest these savings to fortify the Pell Grant program and increase Pell Grants for millions of students; strengthen community colleges; strengthen Historically Black Colleges and Universities and other Minority-Serving Institutions; and allow students to cap student loan payments at affordable levels. The education provisions are estimated by the Congressional Budget Office to reduce the deficit. The Administration urges quick action on this landmark reform.”

The House has voted in favor of the Senate Reconciliation Bill with all the Republicans objecting, and 220 Democrats voting yea, and 31 Democrats voting nay. The Bill will now move back to the Senate for final passage.

Tonight premiers the first two episodes of "Life" on the Discovery Channel. Narrated by Oprah Winfrey, “Life” consists of 11 shows that each explore a different facet of the world’s animal kingdom, ranging from reptiles to mammals to plants. The show captures how the creatures of the Earth struggle for survival, feed, live, reproduce, and live with (or kill with) one another. "Life" is a co-production between the BBC and the Discovery Channel.

The Lost Boys - Corey Haim

The Lost Boys actor Corey Haim died at 38 of an apparent overdose. A spokeswoman said he passed away in the early hours of Wednesday morning at Providence St. Joseph Medical Centre. The Los Angeles coroner's office has also confirmed. A post-mortem will determine the cause of death and no other details have been released as yet.

Aside from "Lucas", Corey Haim had starred alongside Kiefer Sutherland in The Lost Boys, a film about a group of friends who do battle with a band of teenage vampires.
