Earth Hour 2012 Lights Off. On March 31, lights around the world will be switched off for 60 minutes in support of the annual international event organised by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), the International Earth Hour. The challenge of Earth Hour 2012 is to create awareness among the public to dare the world to save our only planet. In honour of the Earth Hour, businesses, individuals and governments will switch off their lights, including those on some of the world’s most famous monuments, for 60 minutes. Numerous public events will be held to mark Earth Hour among the 135 countries taking part in the event in the campaign for energy efficiency, renewable energy and climate adaptation.

In the Philippines, three sites are declared as official switch-off sites of Earth Hour 2012. These locations will be Makati, Cebu and Davao.
